FORGIVENESS

Come now, let us reason together," says the LORD. "Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red as crimson, they shall be like wool. If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the best from the land;

PRAYER MINISTRY
Let prayer replace worry.

National Day of Prayer
2010

It is interesting to know that the NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER actually traces back to 1775 when the Continental Congress called for a day of prayer.  It has become an annual observation for the people of the United States to turn to God in prayer and meditation.  In 1988 President Ronald Reagan signed a bill marking the first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer.  It will be observed on Thursday, May 6, this year.
“On our National Day of Prayer, then, we join together as people of many faiths to petition God to show us His mercy and His love, to heal our weariness and uphold our hope, that we might live ever mindful of His justice and thankful for His blessing.” –   Ronald Reagan
Martha Washington often quoted George’s favorite Psalm, number 91:  “We shall not be afraid of the terror by night nor of the arrow that flies at noonday, nor noise and pestilence.  We are always under God’s protection.”
In 1952 both Houses of Congress called upon the President to set aside a day each year as a National Day of Prayer.
Prayer has indeed been a vital force in the growth and development of this Nation.  It would certainly be appropriate if … the People of this country were to unite in a day of prayer each year … reaffirming in a dramatic manner the deep religious conviction which has prevailed throughout the history of the United States.”   Judiciary Committee’s Report

A Prayer for Such a Time as This

Lord, we are thankful for the abundant blessings You have bestowed on America.  Our forefathers looked to You as Protector, Provider, and the Promise of hope.  But we have wandered far from that firm foundation.  May we repent for turning our backs on Your faithfulness.
We pray that this great nation will be restored by Your forgiveness.  From bondage, You grant freedom.  Through Your own sacrifice, You offer salvation.  From the state of despair, You offer peace.  From the bounties of heaven, You have blessed—not because of our goodness—but by Your grace.
You have given us freedom to worship You in spirit and in truth as Your holy Word instructs.  May our lives honor You in word and deed.  May our nation acknowledge that all good things come from the Father above.
Help us to pray earnestly for our president and leaders who govern that they will humble themselves and seek Your guidance so that everything we do will shine the light of Your glory in a darkened world.
May our prayers as a people and a nation be heard and blessed for such a time as this.  We make this plea in faith, believing in the mighty name of Jesus our Lord.  Amen.

WHAT IS PRAYER? - Prayer is a way to talk to God.
God promises to hear and answer us when we pray to Him, When we close our eyes, fold our hands, and bow our heads we are not as distracted by the things around us. But you don't have to do all that. Some people pray while they're driving their car. You can pray anywhere and at any time.

WHAT SHOULD WE PRAY FOR? - In prayer, we not only ask God for what we need, but we praise and thank HIm for what we already have. If you want to, you can pray to God just to talk to HIm. We pray especially that God would keep strong in our faith, and that He might bring others to faith too.

ARE THERE DIFFERENT KINDS OF PRAYER? -
There are many different types of prayer. As a matter of fact, most of our worship is made of prayers.

PRAY WITH OTHERS:
If you would like to join with others in a focused time, we offer the following prayer.  A common time for praying is 7:30pm, but it can be included in your devotions /prayers at any time.

READ GOD'S WORD:   Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer. (Ps. 4:1 NKJV)

I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears. (Ps. 34:4)

The salvation of the righteous comes from the Lord; He is their strength in time of trouble. (Ps. 37:39)

Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray. (Ps 5:1)

The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them, He delivers them from all their troubles. (Ps. 34:17)

Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me. (Ps. 54:4)

O Lord, the God who saves me, day and night I cry out before You. May my prayer come before You, turn Your ear to my cry. (Ps. 88:1,2)

O Lord, do not forsake me; be not far from me, O my God. Come quickly to help me, O Lord my Savior. (Ps. 38:21-22)

LOOK FOR GOD AT WORK IN YOUR LIFE
A blessing is a gift from God.  It may be the answer to a prayer or even the answer to an "unasked" prayer.
